How we get to a number.
This page documents the methodology behind every poll on Dominion: how we sample, weight, and report a result before it’s published.
Sampling
Respondents are opted-in users who explicitly consented to political polling. Each poll draws from active, verified respondents; we report the raw and effective sample size for every result.
Weighting
Raw responses are weighted by region, age, gender, education, and language against the most recent Census benchmarks, so the sample reflects the Canadian electorate, not just who happened to answer first.
Margin of error
Reported at a 95% confidence level using the effective (weighted) sample size, which is typically smaller than the raw response count. We show the margin next to every topline number, never in a separate document.
Crosstabs
Full regional and demographic breakdowns are available for export on every published result, so anyone (researcher, journalist, or curious respondent) can check our work.
What we don't do
We don't discard or re-run results that don't match expectations, and we don't blend our own polling with other firms' numbers the way an aggregator does. What you see is what our respondents said, weighted transparently.
